“Over several years I saw the van transformed from a clean pristine van to a beat up graffiti one. I was able to photograph it several times during it’s transformation, the painting is what it looked like the last time I saw it. The title of this one is after the owner of the van. Herve (the owner) was a French furniture dealer living in Greenpoint Brooklyn. He bought the van from a city auction for something like 300 bucks and had owned it for many years. He didn’t mind the graffiti, maybe it reminded him of Paris where he was from. “ - Kevin
Kevin Cyr
Kevin Cyr was born in 1976 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada and grew up in Madawaska, Maine. In 2000, he received a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Cyr is currently based in Portland, ME. His paintings, drawings, sculpture & installations have been exhibited by galleries & museums nationally & internationally. His work has been widely collected and is in the permanent collections of La Fondation d’Oxylane in Lille, France and the West Collection in Oaks, Pennsylvania.
